About us

TILLEN was founded in 2007 by three professional engineers who shared a passion for large steel structures, many years of experience in mechanical design, and above all, an eagerness to excel. Today, the TILLEN team adopts a hands-on approach, using expert analytical skills, a diligent work ethic, and unwavering commitment to find the right solution to your challenges.

TILLEN’s expertise in the field of mechanical and structural engineering provides a strong foundation and confidence to produce tailor made solutions for handling heavy and unwieldy loads. With a strong grasp of engineering fundamentals, our professional portfolio is able to expand far beyond heavy lifting [mission] based projects to include design of specialist equipment, supporting structures, and a myriad of handling equipment throughout various markets, on- and offshore.

Our working method

TILLEN’s team is devoted to catering to each individual project’s needs. By using a single point of contact, we are able to effectively and efficiently partner up with our clients on a personal level. Our skills run the gamut from the onset of a project to fabrication and commissioning. It helps us unburden client concerns, while still keeping them involved in every important choice in the project cycle.

Furthermore, TILLEN’s operations can also draw on a vast network of partners to compliment our in-house competences with additional capacity in the field of:
●  naval architecture
●  fabrication
●  drive and control

We pride ourselves on our reputation of being “as good as our word”.

OUR EXPERTISE

Our expertise continues to grow over the years as we look, eagerly, to take on new challenges. Currently we are an active influence in the industry of containerization, offshore access, motion compensated equipment, and heavy mechanical engineering, to name a few.

Containerization

The leading mode of transportation in the world of logistics is, overwhelmingly, by means of containers. At TILLEN our engineers have a keen eye for the art of “containerization”. For those unfamiliar with the industry practice: We design, or redesign, industry equipment for various clients and projects with a focus on keeping a “container format”. This means we design in such a way that elements fit into a standard or modified container, or on a flat bed (including extra supports to distribute weight to strong points, when necessary). All designs are in compliance with applicable rules and regulations for containers. Providing a big relief of logistical and financial burden for our partners.

Motion compensation equipment

Due to extreme working conditions offshore, it is crucial to search for solutions that can reduce worker’s downtime during operations. One solution of note is the implementation of motion compensation equipment that can help stabilize and limit effects of vessel motions and accelerations. Here, TILLEN has also played a leading role in the mechanical design and structural verification of motion compensated gangways, cranes, and winches.
